The Centenary of Christian Worship in the Forest, 1916-2016

The three Uniting Church congregations in the Forest are celebrating this year the centenary of the commencement of regular Christian worship in the district.  A small Methodist congregation began to worship in the home of the Holland family (orchardists) in 1916 and built a small brick church on what is now Forest Way in 1918.

Past centenary events

1. book-launch (The Uniting Church in Australia, The Fruit of the Spirit in The Forest 1916 – 2016) at former French’s Forest Methodist Church [now Forest Alliance Church], Forest Way, 11th June;

2. the Centenary Lunch on 18 June 2016 at Forestville Uniting Church;

3. the Joint Thanksgiving Service on 19 June 2016 at Belrose Uniting Church; and

4. the Centenary Concert on 25 June 2016 at Belrose Uniting Church.

5. a combined ladies fellowship gathering on Tuesday 18 October at 7.30 pm at Belrose UC; and

6. a combined men’s meeting on Friday 28 October at 7.30 pm at the Forest Kirk.  Guest Speaker Hastings Pawsey on Joseph Pawsey, radio-astronomer.
